Security tightened at the international border in West Bengal as KLO raises concerns again

West Bengal's rebel group Kamtapur Liberation Organization (KLO) is once again raising concerns. Central agencies are on alert after the threat from the organization. Security has been beefed up along India's international border (IB) with Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh in West Bengal.

Security has been tightened at the international border in West Bengal following the threat issued by KLO coordinator Daosar Langham Koch on Sunday night. A senior administration official said on Monday that incidents of threatening letters from KLO to local businessmen demanding huge ransom money are coming again in North Bengal. The audio statement of the coach has been released at the international border in Tripura. The threatening message is particularly directed at traders and businessmen's associations of North Bengal, who are refusing to give financial support to the movement for a separate Kamtapur state.

The threat said that if they do not step back from their initiative in this regard, they will have to face serious consequences. The police administration has taken the threatening statement seriously. The seriousness of the matter has further increased amid recent developments in which the Kamtapur State Demand Committee, an independent committee demanding a separate Kamtapur state, has demanded immediate initiation of peace talks between the Center and the banned KLO.

The Committee has also decided to launch a massive public awareness campaign to highlight the need to initiate peace talks. The committee has demanded that KLO general secretary Kailash Koch, who recently surrendered, should also be included in the peace talks.
